Oh, God (irony intended), there are two of them...

Just when you thought it couldn't get any more surreal, meet Paul Givan, just appointed First Minister for Northern Ireland by the new DUP leader, Edwin Poots.

Paul Givan is also a creationist, which means, like his esteemed leader, he supports

the belief that the earth is only 6000 years old. So much so, that he was

responsible for the motion calling for schools in Lisburn NI to teach creationist

alternatives to the scientific theory of evolution.

According to the fount of all knowledge (well, sort of), Wikipedia, the motion

was passed by Lisburn City Council in 2007, and asked all post-primary schools

in the area what plans they had to "develop teaching material in relation to creation, intelligent design and other theories of origin".

I'm tempted to suggest the response was: Ah, Jesus, seriously..? But, I'm afraid it wasn't...

Check out the link in Wikipedia if you wanna get a feel for the consensus. It's not at all worrying. Well, not much, it ain't....

Er, this is still the 21st Century, right..?
